Happy New Year!
May 2009 be a safe and blessed year for everyone. I hope that 2009 brings us all new and exciting chapters in our lives with new challenges as well as many accomplishments.
I oftentimes resolve to do new things with my life when ever the mood so strikes me. Early on in December I vowed to work on making dinner more and not letting our food go to waste. This includes making menus and then corresponding shopping lists for when we go to the grocery. Buying only what we need and not just what we crave – well except for Stewart’s Orange ‘n Cream soda. We also never go to the grocery store hungry. Those frozen meatballs the boy once bought when he was hungry were terrible. Not again. π We found a marvelous slow cooker cookbook at our local bookseller and went to town trying all manner of new recipes. I plan to continue this into the new year. π
The other big thing that I plan to do in 2009 is to give back to my community. The boy and I have been in our home almost a year now and I would really like to grow roots and establish myself. In November I contacted my local Big Brothers Big Sisters chapter and requested information. In mid December I went in for my interview and not even a week later they had found a match for me (on my side of town no less). Next week I will meet her, her mother and sister. I am very much looking forward to hanging out with my little and having fun. You may or may not see much mention of it here on the blog, I will need to figure out the privacy factors and comfort levels.
On the knitting front I am on a yarn diet until my birthday that doesn’t include gift certificates. (So basically I am pretending to diet to help my friends along since my birthday is in early February and I have a good chunk of gift certificates.) π I do plan to cast on at least one of the three sweaters I have lined up with yarn and patterns to go, today. So may my new year bring many wonderful and well fitting hand knits. π
Do you have anything planned for the New Year?
