WIP - Liesl the long

Category: Knitting, WIPLittleWit @ 9:04 am

I knew there were was going to be a good bit of car time while the boy and I were traveling to/from/around New York. I finished up a Christmas gift on our way to New York (well in the hotel that evening) and then I swatched for Liesl the long. I cast it on and then didn’t pull it out of the bag during a couple of our shorter car trips. I pulled it back out on our drives to and home from Canada. Then last night I worked on it at knit night and once I got home until I finished the body. All that I have left right now is the sleeves. It would be awesome if I could finish it tonight. It turns out that the sleeves are more finicky than I would have thought. I only have circular 7mm needles so I am having to magic loop the sleeves. Here’s a picture of my current progress.

PS - When knitting a sleeve, be sure to pick up the stitches on the correct side of the sleeve…unless you really want a purled sleeve with a stockinette body… don’t ask me how I know… :D

WIP Wednesday - Minimalist Cardigan

Category: Knitting, WIPLittleWit @ 8:59 am

I managed to finish the fronts of my sweater this morning. This project is just moving right along. Perhaps there is something to this idea that not everything has to be knit in fingering weight…and that when you use worsted weight it goes faster! (Novel and shocking I know!) I cast on for the sleeves this morning and got one row in before it was time to head to work. Hopefully there will be some more progress on them tonight. :) Have a good day!

The fronts of the sweater as modeled by the hotel bed.

The sleeves, cast on.

PS - I love this yarn, but I hate the way it’s wound. I couldn’t find the stupid end last night and ended up making a big mess (thankfully no knots!) and had to ball the whole thing as you see above…I swear the next bit I have to use will be caked before being added in to the item.

WIP Wednesday - My Sweater Back

Category: Knitting, WIPLittleWit @ 11:38 am

I have finally finished the back of my sweater. Alas, I kept thinking I was nearing the end and then realizing that there was one more instruction. So about 10 inches or so later I am done. :) I think it looks great. Tomorrow I will learn how to not twist my stitches.

This is the minimalist cardigan from IK Fall 2007 knit in moss stitch.

Note: I have added a new photo feature to my blog. You can click on the pictures to make them bigger. :)

WIP Wednesday - My Sweater

Category: Knitting, WIPLittleWit @ 11:24 am

I cast on for my first adult sized sweater not too long ago. It’s the Minimalist Caridgan from the IK Fall 07 and it’s for me! :) I am about halfway through the back now and I am really really liking it. Even if it is all seed stitch because actually seed stitch doesn’t bother me in the least. Oh and the yarn, Suri Merino because I want it and I deserve it. :)

WIP Wednesday - The Jacket Returns

Category: Knitting, WIPLittleWit @ 10:48 pm

I worked on my niece’s sweater and got the two fronts to match in length. Then I used ALL the leftover yarn I garnered to knit one additional row on the 2nd sleeve. I clearly need more yarn. Now I must wait patiently for my saving grace to send me the little bits of yarn she has left over from her socks. :)

See how the fronts are the same length? So superfly! (Yes, I just said superfly [and again!].) The very beautiful stitch markers allowed me to count rows to make sure that the fronts were the same length. Such a novel idea!

In other news the boy has begun “construction” on my niece’s birthday gift from him. It is so super cool! I can’t wait to post pictures after she receives it.
