My pulse is racing, heart is pounding… why you may ask?
I just washed a hand knit garment for the first time.

It doesn’t sound scary…but I made this pouch:

… for a dear friend’s bridal shower this weekend. If something goes wrong in the wash…no gift and I become sad because it was so pretty.

I followed the Knitter’s Review instructions and used my Suave shampoo after hearing that Woolite tends to be too harsh. The water ran clear and it is now resting gently on a super absorbent towel from Target.

Hopefully in a couple of hours it will look splendid and I can relax…
…until then I will be on Ravelry working.

Crafts update

Sorry I haven’t posted in awhile. I am horrible about posting. Perhaps I will just turn this blog into a way of keeping track of my knitting projects at least until Ravelry opens to the general public.

Current Project:
The cover project for Last Minute Knitted Gifts.

Garnett and Peacock. Blue Sky Alpacas – Alpaca Silk. The blue has discoloured my needles. We will see if it comes out.

I recently attended a couple weddings. The first one was my boo’s cousin’s.

Valentine’s Bear

So I decided to make my boo a knitted Teddy Bear for Valentine’s. So I set to work buying the yarn and collecting my needles. I worked many hours and the first bear came to life:

The first bear didn’t turn out so well…

So then I went back to my knitting and gave it another whirl and after a few hours hours the second bear was born:

Bear #2 looked better but he was still a little off. I was quickly beginning to run out of time as Valentine’s approached. I set to work quickly with my needles and yarn clicking away. Wouldn’t you know it? Around noon on Valentine’s Day I finished the third bear:

And he was just right!

Catherine Woods, update

November 27, 2005, Catherine Woods, a girl from the neighborhood where I grew up was brutally murdered in her apartment in Manhattan. Yesterday, February 13, 2007, the jury went into deliberation to decide the fate of the man who murdered her. RoboHelp isn’t “Help”-ful

I must rant. This is one of the greatest contradictions of my life. I am trying to utilize RoboHelp for a client to create a manual for their software from some GREAT Help files that they currently have. However, the program is old, non-intuitive and well not helpful. I find it odd that a program designed to create Help files has such absolutley terrible Help files itself. Their Help files have answered maybe 2 of my questions. This leaves 20+ questions unanswered and does not allow me to accurately answer my client as to whether or not I can perform a task for them. Argh! Software companies, stop buying each other out if you are not going to put forth the effort to make the product good. Yes, Adobe, that means you!
End Rant.

Trans-Siberian Love

Have you ever heard a song that made you wish your life had evolved along a completely different path? I have. Yesterday as, I was screening music for my Christmas party I came across this magical piece. Listening to it made me wish I had been one of those girlie girls who took ballet and could perform a perfect pirouette. It also struck my heavy metal chords so that I could not help but smile. I *heart* heavy metal. Every girl has to have a first love and that was mine.

As evidence to the prowess of this song, I passed it along to a friend. She agreed that this song could lead someone to flee for the ballet. (Notice how that doesn’t carry the stigma of other fleeings – such as to the circus…) To further test the appeal of this piece I played it for my boyfriend. When asked if it made him wish he had done ballet he looked at me blankly and said “no.”

I asked if it made him wish he had been in the pit at the ballet. He then smiled a sly smile that screamed “Oh yeah!” It’s hard to deny the fun of heavy metal melded with classical.

Three cheers for my university and the ever so intelligent drinkers that we have. I am going out on a limb and guessing that the “Frat boy” does not know the difference between bourbon and whiskey. If he did know the difference then I am sure he would have asked for a bourbon sour like my Maman drinks ‘em. (Also, if he did know the difference I would have to assume it was my brother showing off…and I don’t think he was in town that day.)

In other news, I am unpacking in my new home. For those of you who missed the memo I now live in Vandalia, OH with my crazy boo. I am working from home for the time being as a satellite for my company in DC. Huzzah. Frantically trying to unpack I may seem a bit scattered. But soon, I will be back to my old self and hopefully the stress attacks will subside. Have a great one!
