Joy Riding

This morning we went to church with some friends and then out to breakfast. It was fun to chat with them about their wedding next spring. After that we didn’t have much to do today so we just drove around exploring. We found an estate I want to go visit to see the possibility of hosting an event there. So that was fun.

Then in the afternoon I went to pick up my best friend at the airport. She and I hung out for awhile ate some bar food and had a beer. It was quite lovely and I got to do a brain dump about wedding plans. Once I arrived back home I worked on my current shawl. It was really nice to just relax and have some down time today. Haven’t had any in awhile. :)

one more day

Today was not as productive as yesterday in knitting. I did get some blog stuff done for a friend and I am all packed for Sheep and Wool. Now all I have to do is go to bed like a good girl and work a half day tomorrow; then I am Maryland bound! I am so exhausted I think it’s time to pour myself into bed. G’night!

Accomplished

I managed to drag my dupa out of bed this morning and sew the bindings onto two blankets before the power went out. The power conveniently came back on just in time for me to go to work. After work I headed to the monthly knit night at The Merc where I finished the repeat on the wrap that no longer exists. It was pretty unanimous that the wrap and the yarn did not like one another. So I ripped it out. I then took advantage of the giant ball winder the shop has and re wound my 440 yd skein of yarn. :) I will find a suitable project for this yarn some day.

Once back home the boy and I decided to go for a walk. We walked to the park but alas there were children on the swings so no swinging for us. As we were walking I suddenly realized a ton of our neighbors own Hondas. I counted 20 Hondas during our walk. Also many of the homes with Hondas had two, go figure. :) The walk was nice and I would really like for us to try and do that more often.

Upon returning home it was definitely time for ice cream. I took my ice cream upstairs to finish the sewing and the boy headed to the basement. I am pleased to say that about 22:30 I had completed all three blankets that I wanted to get done for this weekend. Now the question is, is it odd to give someone three identical baby blankets? Hmm. I shall ponder this as I drift off to slumber land.

Eye Candy Friday – Myrtle

This is the myrtle we have that grows right outside the kitchen window. I love the little purple flowers and it makes for such a nice green ground cover the rest of the year.

I love looking at the flowers blooming around our house! :D

Earth Day

Today’s Earth Day was moderately productive around here. :) We will ignore the fairly large amounts of laundry I did today getting fabrics pre-washed for sewing this weekend. ;) After work I went out to dinner with a chum and then got home a bit earlier than normal so I set to work on my bit of our yard. I have been debating building a compost bin for our backyard for awhile now so I asked the boy to come out and help me pick out a spot. I have to hand it to him he did pick out a rather excellent spot, hopefully I can get it started soon. :)

After that I set out Rounding Up the grass in the cracks of the sidewalk. I also winced at the dandelions that have some how sprung up in our yard. I will probably spread some weed and feed this weekend as it will be warm enough and there is no rain forecast. (Oh thanks for the reminder, the gutter topper people are coming tomorrow!) We also picked out which flower bed will be used as our garden so now it’s on me to get those plants dug up and replanted elsewhere. I just need to pick a spot to transplant them to.

Lastly we dug out the seeds. I got really excited about growing vegetables the other week and we haven’t done anything with the seeds we bought. :P So we got out the little seed starters and went about planting the seeds that need a bit of time growing indoors before planting outdoors. The other seeds we kind of missed the window on growing them indoors first but it’s ok because they will be ready for planting outside very soon. Actually, pretty much as soon as we can get the flower/garden bed ready. Hopefully something will come of these plantings and we won’t have lots of dead plants on our hands this year. ;) *fingers crossed*
