Sticks N Stitches 2010

Sorry it’s taken me so long to do this post. I have no good excuse and well we all know about excuses and how everyone has one. ;) At any rate, Sticks n Stitches was great this year! For me as the organizer it was a bit more relaxed on game day which was really nice. I feel like we had a pretty good flow for handing out goodie bags and raffling off the prizes. It did become a bit hairy about two weeks before the game when our ticket sales jumped from 48 to 92 to 112 to finally land at 148 tickets sold. It was definitely our best year yet for tickets sold but hoo boy do y’all know how to give me a heart attack. ;) Grant with the Blue Jackets was very awesome in scaring up enough seats for the majority of us to sit together.

Here’s a pretty good shot of us right before the doors opened:

The boy, Myself, Katy and Katy's sister ready to go.

And here are a couple shots of everyone getting their bags:

Sadly the Blue Jackets didn’t win. Although it was a closely contested game with the Chicago Blackhawks pulling it out in the last few minutes to win 6-5. I am updating the pictures and goodies over on the event page. It should all be up by the end of this weekend. (If not today, it depends on how much other work I get done)

We’re really looking forward to next year’s event. I am hoping to get us the Sky Terrace. The one caveat to that is I really really need people to be willing to purchase their tickets earlier than the week before the game. [Preferably a month or three before the game kind of like one does when they decide to get OSU football tickets or to go see their favorite artist play.] This will allow us to make sure we have enough seats and goody bags to go around and gives us more bargaining power. If you would like to be contacted for next year’s event as soon as the date is picked please drop me a line so I can add you to the list.

Sticks N Stitches Update (again)

I was informed Tuesday that we had sold out the upper bowl and that the only seats left  for the game were in the lower bowl. My contact with the Blue Jackets just emailed me to let me know that management had allowed him to release 50 more seats in the upper bowl at the $26 price point! So if you wanted to go but didn’t want to pay for a ticket in the lower bowl call Grant at the Blue Jackets now! 614.246.7224

Sticks N Stitches Update

We’re about a week and a half out from this year’s Sticks n Stitches with the Columbus Blue Jackets and we’ve already sold out our section in the upper bowl. Since the game is a very popular one for the Blue Jackets – great time of day and a worthy opponent – the upper bowl is now also sold out. The only tickets remaining for the game are in the lower bowl and come with a considerable price increase since our group discount isn’t valid in those sections. According to the gentleman with the Blue Jackets that I am working with, we’ve had inquiries so far for up to 136 tickets. I am starting to get a bit hopeful for next year’s game. If we can boost the number of attendees to 200 that should allow us to reserve the sky box and have more room.

If you’ve come over from Cast On or anywhere else please drop me a note in the comments to tell me how you heard about us. I am still in shock as our ticket sales went from 47 last weds to 126 tonight. That’s a huge boost! (and it wasn’t all my friends buying theirs at the last minute ;) )

I can’t wait to see everyone next Saturday! Go Jackets!

Buy Your Tickets

Just a friendly neighborly reminder to buy your tickets for Sticks n Stitches. Right now we’ve only sold 8 tickets and I know I had a list of about 70 people that planned on going. Where are all of you guys? :) Also, if you know of any vendors who would like to donate to the goody bags or donate door prizes that would be wonderful. As it stands right now there are about 10 people who will get all the loot. :P I look forward to seeing y’all there!

More organizing and housekeeping

Today wasn’t a very awesome bloggable day. I had a grumbly tummy most of the day which I decided to combat with an hour nap after work. The nap was good especially since I had a puppy to snuggle with. After the nap I got the boy’s birthday presents all wrapped up so he won’t accidentally find them in my cleaning frenzy. I also started to get things around for a finishing party we’re having in two weeks. I even grabbed my mending box out of the closet to see what all needed to be taken care of. It turns out I had a brown pantsuit, brown slacks, 2 black sweaters, a blue top and a red turtle neck that would all be very useful things to wear right now just hanging out in the mending box. I think I will go ahead and see if I can’t get on the ball and get those fixed up. Heck I can’t even locate the problem on one of the black sweaters.

After that discovery and my second or third (doh!) moment of the week I decided to focus on sending out requests for donations for Sticks N Stitches. Keep your fingers crossed that I am not the only one going into work tom’w! ;) Hopefully we’ll hear back soon.
