Happy Birthday Catherine!

Today is my sister’s birthday! She’s a ripe ol’ 22. :) We went out to eat with the fam. Then went back and hung out at my parents’ house. She enjoyed her gift card to the world’s most awesome bookstore ever.

Happy Birthday!

Oh and in other exciting news I may have finished knitting my Caricia shawl today! :)

Memorial Day Fun

Today was a full day. It started out with me going to pick up my little and her cousin to hang out for a few hours. We went to the grocery store to get brats and hot dogs for lunch as well as the ingredients for s’mores. Yum! When we got home the boy had the corn going on the grill so we tossed the meat to him and went to work on the kool-aid and finding all the plates. The girls had fun running around the yard and in the creek hiding from us. :)

After a filling lunch we roasted marshmallows and made s’mores. They used some large sticks they found in the yard while the boy and I used kabob skewers to hold ours. Then it was off to the park for a game of tag, the kind where the rules change all the time. :P Since the girls weren’t ready to go home yet and because I had some gardening chores that had to be completed I told them they could stay another hour if they helped me move some plants. So we dug up flowers from a bed in our backyard and moved them to a fairly empty bed in the front yard. Then the boy turned the soil over in the backyard while I took the girls home. When I got back the two of us got to work planting peppers, onions, carrots, leeks and brocolli. We will be planting beans tom’w after they soak over night.

For dinner we headed over to his parents’ house for some more good food on the grill. We ended up hanging out there until super late discussing wedding stuffs and lord only knows what else. It was a great day. :) Have a g’night.

Marriage Play

Yesterday we drove up to the Cleveland area to visit my grandmother since we hadn’t seen her in a little bit. We had a lovely visit, hung out, I knit like a mad woman and then we went to Friendly’s for dinner. Actually before dinner, the boy and my Uncle decided to hang the world’s largest American flag on my grandmother’s house. The flag was somewhere around 9 ft x 5 ft in size. Which is a huge flag. :)

After dinner we drove into Cleveland (with Grandma in tow) to see the closing night of my Uncle’s latest play. I budgeted some extra travel time to compensate for dinner going long, getting lost and possibly running into a closed bridge on the main route into town. Foruntately they had finished moving that bridge a couple hours earlier so the bridge was open. Of course all my extra travel time buffer meant we showed up about two hours before curtain. Woops! :)

The play is titled Marriage Play. It’s a two person act and was hysterical. We really enjoyed watching it and both actors were great (although I may be biased)! They’d been runing this play about 6 weeks and it got great reviews. After the play we headed out to the pub for a few and then booked it home. We really do need to go see more of my uncle’s plays in the future. :)

More presents

So winning blog contests is great. I recently received this package of postcards and stitch markers all the way from England. Laylock has begun selling postcards of her photos in her Penny Post. They really are quite lovely. You should head on over and check them out. She gave away a set of her cards and sent the stitch markers and some chocolate along to round out the prize. :)

Fourth Fridays

My town has this wonderful little thing that runs during the summer called Fourth Fridays. On the fourth Friday of each month the shops stay open until 9pm and there is a bit of a street fair going on. The boy and I had plans to head up there tonight after eating our meal. Just as we were sitting down to eat my friend called to inform me of some sort of street fair going on in my town and isn’t this just my kind of thing? ;) I told her yes indeed it is and that we would be up just as soon as we finished eating. :) So we met up with my chum and her friend and wandered around for the evening. I found a lady selling handmade Alpaca goods. She was lovely to chat with. We also found a sailing group who was giving out free sailing rides tom’w. Alas we will be out of town and I won’t be able to take advantage of the sailboat rides. I need to add Fourth Fridays to my calendar this year so that we don’t accidentally miss it on weekends that we are actually in town. :)
