Today was not as productive as yesterday in knitting. I did get some blog stuff done for a friend and I am all packed for Sheep and Wool. Now all I have to do is go to bed like a good girl and work a half day tomorrow; then I am Maryland bound! I am so exhausted I think it’s time to pour myself into bed. G’night!

So today was a busy busy moderately productive day. I managed to get the sock knit up with plenty of yarn leftover. I love the color of the yarn it just makes me smile.
I have started the second sock and it should be done by the end of the week with no trouble. I have my clothes all packed up and ready to go for MDSW. I am so excited. So excited that my brain is not functioning properly so this is a lame blog post.
G’night!

Denial. It’s not just a river anymore. So I spent my early morning hours cleaning up all the patterns scattered about my office. I got them all neatly put into my three ring binder each pattern in it’s own little sleeve. Unless it was only printed on one side, then some of those patterns shared a sleeve. I then wound yarn for my next couple of knitting projects and located all needed reference materials. I also made half of a decision regarding the Belgian socks. I fear they are too wide to fit the desired recipient’s foot and I can’t be too enamored with the pattern as it has languished for a good six months. Granted part of the reason for languishing was because I had made it through half of one foot when it was brought to my attention that they may not fit and I couldn’t come up with a good method for doing a sneaky fitting test. So I ripped out the shorter of the two socks and am going to try the yarn in a different pattern and then pick which I like better. Hooray!
In other denial news, I cast on for another pair of Cable Twist socks today. I love these socks because they fly off my needles. Although some day I swear I will knit them with enough yarn. I knit the first repeat and weighed the yarn – 5 grams. I have a 99 gram skein of yarn and two socks so that’s 49.5 grams a piece. Which in theory would tell me that I can have 9 repeats. The only problem being that I just don’t like the cuff with only 3 repeats so I am trying to squeeze in four as though the foot portion will magically shrink.
Sigh. Typing this is making me realize I am really truly going to have to rip back. And to think I turned the heel tonight! Unless of course, I knit the toe in a contrasting yarn. What’s a gal to do? I peered in my stash and none of my blues are remotely close. I do have some grey yarn that I am not hating. I just don’t want the socks to look half-assed.
They’re a gift for a very lovely person. Oh and they have to be knit by Sunday night.
Other mitigating factors: I have knit this pattern 3 other times. Twice in worsted using 211.2 yds and 215.6 yds and once in DK using 158 yds. I just feel like with this being on worsted again I should have enough yarn. Especially since I had enough yarn leftover in the DK to do another repeat. This pattern also has a lot of give in it. The cabling adds a lot of stretch.
Oh! I just remembered the foot won’t use as much yarn cause the bottom is in stockinette and has no cabling. Is that enough to save me?

I managed to drag my dupa out of bed this morning and sew the bindings onto two blankets before the power went out. The power conveniently came back on just in time for me to go to work. After work I headed to the monthly knit night at The Merc where I finished the repeat on the wrap that no longer exists. It was pretty unanimous that the wrap and the yarn did not like one another. So I ripped it out. I then took advantage of the giant ball winder the shop has and re wound my 440 yd skein of yarn.
I will find a suitable project for this yarn some day.
Once back home the boy and I decided to go for a walk. We walked to the park but alas there were children on the swings so no swinging for us. As we were walking I suddenly realized a ton of our neighbors own Hondas. I counted 20 Hondas during our walk. Also many of the homes with Hondas had two, go figure.
The walk was nice and I would really like for us to try and do that more often.
Upon returning home it was definitely time for ice cream. I took my ice cream upstairs to finish the sewing and the boy headed to the basement. I am pleased to say that about 22:30 I had completed all three blankets that I wanted to get done for this weekend. Now the question is, is it odd to give someone three identical baby blankets? Hmm. I shall ponder this as I drift off to slumber land.

The boy was out of town this weekend visiting his grandmother A. Knowing that I would have the weekend to myself I set aside today to get some much needed sewing completed. Up first was finally finishing the mending on his jeans that he asked me to repair last spring.
Guess I am not so timely, eh? After that I worked on finishing up a Christmas gift for a dear chum. Yes, normally I am not so far behind on things, I really don’t know what caused all this stuff to be put off so long. I struggled a bit with the tension while sewing the gift but I kind of gave up and went with it for the interior seams. Once I got to the top stitching I called a chum and begged her to come over and tell me what was wrong. Turns out my sewing machine has a preference on thread and the thread I was using for the bag was not to its liking. I will be sure to consult with my machine from here on out as to which thread to use! Once she got me switched over to a different thread the tension was much better and the top stitching turned out wonderfully.

There may currently be a minor baby boom happening in my life. Somewhere around 8 babies will be born to my friends, colleagues and cousins in the next five months. (They gave me June off.) The second half of today I worked on getting the baby gifts started. My goal was to make 3 blankets today. I didn’t quite meet that goal but I came close. I have one blanket completed up to the finishing stitching and four more are completely cut out and ready to be sewn together. I bet once I figure out what I am doing for the finishing stitching I can knock those other four out in an evening. Which is good, because I need to take 3 of them with me this weekend!

Other fun things I managed to accomplish today, some laundry, putting weather appropriate linens on our beds (it’s too hot for flannel!) and I managed to get the cover off the whole house fan. Funny how the whole house fan doesn’t really work when the cover is on it! I am bit wooped and will be headed to bed soon.
