under attack

I know I promised an update to Sticks N Stitches today but I am sorry that’s going to have to wait another day or so. Right now I need your help. I found a little white larvae on a new skein of yarn today – this yarn came into my home on Friday evening from a friend and was not near the Sticks N Stitches stuff for anyone who is wondering. ;)

It was however in my knitting bag and on my carpet and came with a giant bag of fabric. The yarns and projects are now in ziploc bags in the freezer and the fabric is in the garage. (It’s still below freezing around these parts.) Uh now what?

Have any of you experienced a moth infestation and know what to do? I would like to be sure that these skeins are no longer infected before I continue knitting on the garments. I know there is something about making sure there are no more eggs and such. I also need to let the person who gave me the yarn know but I would like to be able to give them a solution rather than just a massive problem. Thanks for any advice you can offer!

Second Annual Homespun Yarn Party!

Hello readers of LittleWit’s blog! Guest poster bunnysquirrel here to do some shameless free advertising for the event I’m helping organize here in Maryland. It’s a cross between a mini fiber festival (30+ vendors; all indie dyers, spinners, and small fiber farmers) and a knit-out. Anyone within a 4 hour driving radius of Baltimore should totally come hang out, buy cool stuff, and knit with us!

What: Yarn Party! Check out local yarn vendors, sit and knit, meet new people!

Who: All your favorite local yarn dyers and spinners, plus some extra crafty goodness! And all our knitting/crocheting/spinning friends (you!) of course!!

Where: Historic Savage Mill |8600 Foundry Street, Savage, MD 20763 | Just off I-95, plenty of parking!

When: Sunday, March 15, 2009 – 12 PM to 4 PM (watch the HYP blog – hours may be extended)

Why: Who needs an excuse to get together and craft?! We wanted to get together and spread some fiber love!

In addition to some great crafty vendors, we’ll also have:

* free lessons on knitting, crochet, spinning, and maybe more
* fabulous door prizes to be given away throughout the event
* crafty goody bags for participants (while supplies last)
* weather-permitting, a sit and spin/crochet/knit area out on the deck

And we’ll be collecting knitted and crocheted items for local charities!

More info can be found at here (blog) and here (Ravelry group).

The puck drops here.

Today is game day. Puck dropped at 7pm. For those of you wanting to know what arrived in the goody bags, check out the pictures below! Full update tomorrow or Monday. :D

Tink, Tink, Tink

Today wasn’t overly productive. I went to knit night but there was only two of us. So we left to go to the yarn shop. While I was knitting along at knit night (before we left) I found I had missed some make ones. I added them in but they made large gaps. I was determined to make it work some how and kept knitting along. Then when I got home I knit another row and realized I had missed some more make ones! So I finally just decided to rip out all the knitting from knit night and start over. :) Yeah, I know. You all knew I was going there. Hmm in other news, the last bit of door prizes arrived today! Less than 48 hrs and counting…

See y’all at the game. ;)
