Eye Candy Friday - Stud Pink

Category: Personallittlewit @ 9:44 pm

Today’s Eye Candy Friday is brought to you by DAP spackle and the color pink.

The spackle goes on pink and turns white when it’s ready to be sanded. What oh what could we be spackling in our new home. Any ideas? ;)

Birthday Swap Survey

Category: Knitting, Personallittlewit @ 11:05 am

This survey is being done for a Birthday Swap that I am a member of. If you would like to learn little tid bits about me feel free to read on. If not then carry on to the next post. :) Also, dear swap pal, I reserve the right to update this at will or rather as my memory forces me too.

1. a. What is your name?

LittleWit but my friends call me Jocelyn

b. What is your quest?

To find a galaxy far far away.

c. What is your favorite color?

Probably go bobcat green. However I am a huge sucker for jewel and earth tones.

2. When is your birthdate (year optional)?

Feburary 09, 1982 - the year MTV was born.

3. Do you have any special birthday traditions?

The only tradition I have is one that I want to stop. I would like to have people actually show up to celebrate my birthday. Oh and my mom always made us fun birthday cakes in whatever shape we wanted and we got to pick from her cake decorating books.

4. What is your favorite birthday memory?

Hmm. All time favorite? I don’t think I have one. However I did love the birthday where my friends in Baltimore took me out to dinner and we got the waitress to sell us a slice of her homemade peppermint cheesecake. It was de-lic-ious.

5. Any allergies we should know about?

As long as you aren’t sending me amoxicillin I should be ok.

6. What crafts do you do - knit, crochet, spin, dye, bead, quilt, etc. etc. ?

Knit, spin, want to dye, will start crocheting eventually, have some quilts planned, I sew and I like to do woodworking and may start again now that I have a garage to work in.

7. Any sorts of fibers you particularly love or hate or are dying to work with?

I love some Rio De La Plata - Santa Maria however it’s discontinued and I have 2 or 3 skeins of it stashed away.

I don’t so much hate anything or maybe I do but I don’t remember what it is. I have some distant memory of an ew I won’t work with that again…oh that’s right, it was STR medium weight but it’s because I was feeling someone else’s knit up sock and I didn’t like the fabric. I think someone else showed me a not as blah feeling one. Ok I was reminded me that I am not a huge fan of lots of mohair content cause if it is a pain to frog or tink I will whine and inevitably run out of yarn.

As far as dying to work with - I sometimes have a desire to work with all the “trendy” yarns that people always rave about but then I never have the desire to spend money to buy them. :) I am for real dying to work with some true gossamer weight yarns a la Gossamer Webs.

8. What weight of yarn do you prefer?

I am drawn to fingering weights but I am trying to focus on making things in larger weights because yeah they aren’t really that much larger and they knit up faster!

9. What are your favorite knitting accessories? (i.e.: stitch markers, row counters…)

I don’t have one? Make a believer out of me?

10. Do you subscribe to any crafty magazines?

Nope. But I really should.

11. What do collect aside from fiber-related things?

Dust, shot glasses, t-shirts and fabric that I never sew with :)

12. Favorite candy, chocolate (dark, white, or milk), tea, coffee, other treats?

Hmm…swedish fish, white chocolate and kernel popcorn.

13. Do you enjoy handmade soap and body products?

I do enjoy but please no scents.

14. Are there any scents you love or hate?

Scents must be very subtle because I have a super sensitive nose.

15. What is your favorite: flavor, flower, letter, number, film, artist?

Flower - Orchids and Lilies (Bleeding hearts are growing on me and lily of the valleys - oh wait that’s a lily).

Flavor - Margarita, Jimmy John’s Vito, Mango, Raspberry, Peppers oh I dunno I like to eat, I have lots of favorite flavors.

Letter - E (Exercise E! - this separates the weak from the strong AND you know it’s a pop culture reference from my childhood!)

Number - 13

Film - Boondock Saints.

Artist - I don’t know that I have one.

16. Anything we should *not* get for you?

Snake bite kit, I already have one.

17. Do you have a blog and or wishlist that are not linked on Ravelry or listed in the GoogleDoc?

I have a Loopy Ewe wish list linked in my side bar and an Amazon wish list linked in my side bar.

18. Anything special you would like your partner to know?

You are all special people in my heart. :) Anything I get will be fun and I am totally looking forward to this.

Bike night errands and first times

Category: Personallittlewit @ 9:53 pm

Tonight was bike night and as usual we were headed over to the local meet up. However for a fun twist I decided we could run all of those errands we had to do (*I* had to do) that could be done from the bike. First we pulled up at the library for me to return an over due book (bad littlewit!) then we headed over to the bank. I was unaware that the tellers were still there and I only had one check to deposit so we pulled into the ATM. I probably should have endorsed my check before we got there but I still would have had to fill out the deposit envelope. It’s a good thing the boy’s jacket has armor in it, as it gave me a firm surface to write on. Also, did you know it’s rather tricky to lick an envelope with a helmet on? Well it is. You can file that nubbin away for future reference. The whole time we were at the ATM there was a car next to us with a little boy (young toddler?) whose mouth was agape at the bike. Also, the tellers in the bank seemed to be very amused by us. I of course missed all of this as I was focused on the task at hand but the boy saw it all.

Then we headed to the Sprint store so that I could get my new work phone updated with all my contacts from the old work phone. The guy working there also seemed to be amused by this couple strolling in with all their gear on to get a phone updated. Our next stop was across the street at Sears to pay a bill. Cause you know paying your first Sears bill is another milestone into adulthood. The cashier was visibly amused but quite helpful. :) As we left Sears there was a car in the parking lot with a little boy watching us so I waved to him and he waved back. Then the boy revved his engine for a little extra treat.

Our last stop before getting to the meet up was Jimmy John’s for some yummy dinner and yeah…the folks there know me and my order now. I swear I haven’t been there more than five times since we moved but perhaps I keep going during the same person’s shift. That’s my story and I am sticking to it.

At bike night we met up with a friend of a friend and looked at all the pretty bikes and some of the ridiculous drivers. While it was still light out I requested that we leave to head home. I had one last errand to run - to the post office! - so we went to complete that task. When I dismounted at the PO I said that I wanted to drive. So the boy took me across the way to a more empty parking lot and turned over the bike. I did well considering I haven’t been on a bike as the driver since last July (07) and this bike is a 600cc sport touring and my last one was a 250cc dual sport (I think?). I planned to go as slowly with this one as I did in the class but it turned out that wasn’t necessary. I was comfortable putting my feet up and making turns (as long as I actually looked through the turn!) I even shifted into 2nd gear once but I need to work on that. The sun was starting to fade so we headed home but I will definitely take the bike out again soon.

Perhaps some day I will be able to get my own bike…now I am torn Honda Shadow or BMW? And what kind of BMW should I get?

Memorial Birthday

Category: Personallittlewit @ 9:15 pm

Happy Memorial day and Happy Birthday to my sister. (Being the younger sibling of a soccer playin’ fool - Mr Ban not I - can sometimes be a drag especially when your birthday falls around the memorial day holiday and all the requisite soccer tournaments.)

The boy and I celebrated our memorial day by getting up bright and early and heading over to Home Depot. Our wonderfully generous friends gave us a fair number of gift cards and all of them to Home Depot so we set out to buy the supplies for the first big project we want to tackle - the closets. Hopefully by the end of June all of the 8′ closets in this house will have nice hanging space and shelf space for the clothes and other items. We also picked up some items for repelling bugs, weeds, removing wall paper, painting and planting flowers. All in all we spent $25. ;) Not too shabby if you ask me.

At dinner time we got together with my family to take my sister out to dinner for her birthday. Then we came back to the house to eat cake and open gifts. She was quite pleased with her presents and the cake was yummy. (The boy and I made it and he decorated it.) After quite the busy weekend though it’s lights out at 930 pm so that we stand a chance at waking up in time for work in the morning.

Wedding Season is upon us

Category: Knitting, Personallittlewit @ 11:57 pm

We are “that age” and this is our second summer of weddings, so let the fun begin. Saturday was the bachelor party for the boy’s best friend’s wedding. Friday night when they got together the boy proposed that whomever was late to the bachelor party would have to buy a round of shots. Can you guess who was half an hour late to the bachelor party? :) They had a grand time and I spent my night knitting away at the sleeves for my cardigan while immersing myself in HGTV. The sleeves are almost done, I just need to find the time to sit and finish them. HGTV also allowed me to finally determine how I want to paint the office when we get to that stage.

The boy will kill me but I received this awesome text from him at 2 am after I inquired as to whether he would be coming home and if he needed a ride (I was the very sober DD on standby for the fellas in case they needed one).

N m o t yet but i love and mirs u.

Now I mirs u is a wonderful inside joke y’all can be a part of. :) When he got home he informed me that some of his friends would be coming over on Sunday to watch movies. Come Sunday afternoon that changed to we’re going to go to the driving range and then come back to the house. I tagged along to the driving range and worked out the math for our new project for the house and then hit a few balls. After the 350 balls were gone we played a round of putt putt. My short game is dreadful however I did manage 3 holes in one (along with umm 3 or 4 holes where I got “mercy ruled”). Halfway through putt putt another friend straggled in and our numbers were up to 9.

We all went for ice cream at this fantastic local place that I had been meaning to take the boy to since we moved. Everyone quite enjoyed the ice cream and we were on our way back to the house. (The ice cream was my evil plan to tide them over until we could get dinner made.) The boy and I made 4 home made pizzas with help from a few friends and fed about 10 people total (2 more came and 2 left). Everyone was really awesome about pitching in and clean up when everyone was gone was a breeze because of it.

The evening was really good overall, they played mario kart, frisbee in the back yard, referred to the boy as “old man g” and then we ended the night sitting on the back porch chatting with friends and our neighbors who wandered over. :) Now to start figuring out wedding gifts…
