I ordered a switch and 100ft of ethernet cable from Newegg so that we can run a hard line into the boy’s computer in the basement. I would hate to deprive him of Naruto.
It came today and the boy was quite happy to see it. He set off as soon as he got home planning how we were going to run this wire though the house and into the basement. We knew the previous owner had done it somehow and that’s all the more information we needed. He got into the attic space above the garage to find out we have even more storage available! We found a nice 6′x8′ area up there that can store anything that we don’t want easy access to.
I helped him get the wire from the office and into the attic space and then I left for knit night. He had it all finished when I got home. He is quite happy that he now has dedicated Internet to his computer.
I went to a new to me knit night tonight. It was a nice group with a different demographic from my usual Thursday night group. I worked on weaving in the ends of my niece’s sweater the entire time I was there. Holy cow, now I know exactly how many ends there are to weave in. I think on my next sweater I will try harder to weave in as I go. Lesson learned

Bike night tonight was rather fun. When the boy got home we hopped on the bike and rode off to the library so that I could pick up some books I had on reserve. I went and found a book that was in the stacks first and checked out. As we were walking over to the reserves booth we heard a man quite audibly laughing at us in our bike gear. We both kind of looked at each other and said “what was that all about?” Once we got to the reserves booth with their wonderful outward facing window we realized what he had been laughing at. The skies had opened up and it was pouring.
Woops! We got my book and then hung out in the library gift shop for a few minutes until the rain passed. (Our library gift shop sells peaches and cream yarn, how cool is that?)
Once the rain cleared up we got back on the bike and decided to head uptown to find something to eat. There is an Old Bag of Nails in town so we stopped to grab a bite. Fair warning this place is always crowded. Normally as a party of 2 we can squeeze into a table or sit at the bar fairly quickly no matter where and what time we go to eat. This was not the case here. On the bright side the food was quite yummy. If you ever go there and decide to order the chicken breast sandwich you are in for a treat. When they say chicken breast, they mean the WHOLE chicken breast. Talk about a filling sandwich.
Then it was off to the actual bike meet-up. We keep trying to meet-up with a gentleman from the boy’s bike forum who also attends the weekly meet-up but we keep only finding his bike and not him. One of these days we will find him.

With all due haste the boy and I trotted over to The Stitching Post again today so that I could snatch up good yarns before they were all gone. I got 5 skeins of Cascade Quattro which is more than enough for a couple of the sweaters I want to make from Fitted Knits. I also purchased 3 skeins of Cascade Sierra to make this yoga bag designed by my friend MaryHeather. As we were getting ready to leave I happened upon a basket full of Cascade Fixation. I fortuitously remembered that I needed some of this to make the mermaid strapless top from Sexy Little Knits. 40% off is really nice. Now I just have to see what all I can find yarn for at Maryland Sheep and Wool!

I ordered another set of Denise Needles from The Stitching Post recently. They called me on Friday to say that my needles had arrived but alas they close at 6pm on Fridays so I wasn’t able to get there until today. When we pulled up to the shop today there was a giant sign outside that said Anniversary Sale! Intrigued I went in to pick up my needles and found out that: a. all their yarns were 40% off, fabrics were anywhere from 50-75% off and notions were 25% off. Huzzah!
I purchased pillow forms and fabric for some pillows to be made for the porch swing. I got 25% off on my needles and I bought 4 skeins of Cascade 220 Superwash at 40% off. They think the sale is running through May 12th so I will have to come back with my Ravelry queue to see what other yarns I need. I think I did pretty well!

The boy and I went and purchased ourselves some lovely antiques for our home. His mom works with a lady who knows a lady who is moving to another state and needed to unload some heirlooms. They have already been placed around our apartment and will be put to good use. Aren’t they lovely?
This first item is a lovely sewing chair, replete with a spring loaded drawer to store your bobbins in. Located next to it is a very lovely pie crust table that I had to put my dukes up to get. It was a highly contested item but I had the cash so I won.

This is a shot of the drawer found on the right side of the chair.

The third and final item is this very lovely cupboard. It is currently located in the bar and we aren’t quite sure what it’s purpose will be. All the same it’s very pretty!

A shot of the inside.

These items belonged to the lady’s grandmother which I think would but the original owner around the age of my great-grandmother. It’s wonderful how high quality items last.
And now a plea for money. I made the mistake of going into the Amish Furniture store in uptown today. If only I had a spare 20k I could buy all the beautiful furniture we would like to have to round out our home
Perhaps someday!
