Blue Jackets! and Networking

Friday night I was invited to attend a Blue Jackets game by my Blue Jackets contact and to bring my helpers. The boy, my mom, Mr Ban and two very close family friends came as my helpers. We were treated to some very nice seats with a great view of the game. I met my Blue Jackets contact and we discussed some of the particulars for this event as well as some ideas that they have for next year’s event. (See! They brought up next year, they like this idea!) At second intermission my mom, friend and I went to check out the seats for the game. There is a clear view of the ice so you will be able to see all of the action without some large obstruction in the way. We will also be up high enough that if anyone does actually knit/crochet the whole time they don’t have to worry about those flying pucks. The Jackets ended up beating the Blues 6-4. All in all it was a great evening.

Yeah we sat over top of that guy. He was fun to watch.

Saturday I went around to the local yarn shops in Columbus and dropped off gigantic fliers. Temptations will kindly be providing the bags for all of the goodies to go in. Knitter’s Mercantile is getting a group together to come to the game (Yay!) but I don’t know their numbers yet. I will update the ticket sales numbers once I get a better idea. Heavenly Creations was having a 25% off sale so my mom bought the 365 Crochet Stitches Calendar. Mwahaha, I have sucked her back into her craft. She may even update her Ravelry page some day! 🙂 Yarn Shop was busy so I didn’t get to chat with them but they will be hanging posters.

Today I started in on the Dayton area shops. There is now a lovely flier at Fiberworks and I have a new lovely Turkish drop spindle as well as some superwash merino roving. I figure it was a fair trade. 😉 The lovely Arlene has also donated a couple of door prizes for the event. The Stitching Post – Centerville will also be displaying the flier. My mom helped distribute some more fliers around Columbus today. The Stitching Post – Bethel Rd will be sporting the flier as well as the Northwest Library. The library also participates in the Warm Up America – Worthington Branch so we will get them to help us distribute the blocks/blankets that we collect. Things are looking good for now. I will be visiting the other Dayton area shops throughout the course of this week to drop off fliers. I am looking forward to seeing everyone at the game!
